The pedestrian route “On the slopes of Raposeira” has a historical character, as the Infante Dom Henrique lived in Raposeira, the main driver of Portuguese expansion, the so-called era of Portuguese discoveries.
This village is typically rural, you can find mills, wells, fountains, an old stone fountain, Rossio das Eiras (area occupied by fairgrounds) as well as traces of the abundant fishing and agricultural activity.
Raposeira has an enviable record of Neolithic occupation in the region, including megalithic monuments, including the Padrão Menhir (about 6,500 years old) and the Aspradantas Menhir, cult monuments of a magical-religious nature.
